Slavery and trafficking: the building blocks of Thai fishing industry
I recently read a stunning investigative article by the Guardian. It talks about how the majority of the labors working for the Thai fishing industry are composed of slaves who were once undocumented migrants being trafficked from Burma and Cambodia to Thailand. Please take a look at the short documentary inside this article, it shows very stunning reality about the living conditions of the slavery, their experiences of being tortured suicide and escape. This is what have sustains the cheap prawns available in the global supermarkets today.
