An ongoing exhibition in London on printmaking in modern China
Hi all! I wanted to share some information on this exhibition in SOAS, London: ‘Lu Xun’s Legacy: Printmaking in Modern China’. Lu Xun (1881-1936) played a leading role in the literary and artistic reform in early twentieth-century China. He revived woodblock printing as a medium of modern artistic expression in China. These prints resonate with our discussion on the spiritual power of objects last week. It is interesting to ask how the materiality of prints intersects with the pursuit of modern spirit during artistic reforms.
