Michael Sandel on The Limits of the Market

Did you know that you can pay for an upgrade of your prison cell if you are incarcerated in California? For those interested in thinking about what can and should or cannot and should not be commoditized:

Michael Sandel is the political philosopher who spoke at the Oxford Union last night regarding commodities and gifts.

He is author of the book “What Money Can’t Buy: The Moral Limits of Markets” (http://www.amazon.com/What-Money-Cant-Buy-Markets/dp/0374533652/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1421797748&sr=8-2&keywords=michael+sandel)

You can also find a very similar talk to the one he gave on Monday night on TED

It’s an interesting moral/philosophical approach to the questions we were talking about in class today, and has some great practical examples.
