Object Biography of Ship Containers
As we have been thinking about commodity chains, movement of things and connections between the local and the global, this podcast (and article) talks about the movement of container ships transporting and moving goods around the world. Rather than looking at that only, it connects the ships’ movement with the history of ship containers, from when they were first conceived of to the way they have changed the way we transport goods (e.g. having individual ship containers that can cool goods) and to what happens to them when they are damaged and reused as buildings/living spaces.
