The love app
Reading Hjorth’s (2009) “Engaging Rings” for this week, I was reminded of a story in the New Yorker from last year about an app called Between, a sort of digital keepsake box or scrapbook, that is popular among young couples in Korea. Check it out for a more up-to-date description of the world of love, the internet, selfies, and mobile phones in Korea. It’s a pretty well written article, I think, and it provides a sort of social life/biographical style analysis of the app through the history of a young couple, Jimin and Yundi.

Thank you Cameron for this update on Korean couples’ mobile phone use; it really shows how much has changed since 2009… and it also reveals the challenges academics who write about new technologies face!
