The Orphanage Business
I caught this on Radio 4 (File on 4) yesterday afternoon. It follows on from the story of the orphanages in Haiti that were featured in the film Poverty Inc. that we watched last Tuesday. This time, illegal orphanages in Uganda were investigated, where desperate mothers leave their children in the belief that they will be educated and well looked after (which turns out not to be the case), only for them to used as props to attract money from international charities.
