‘World’s 8 Richest Have as Much Wealth as Bottom Half of Global Population’
Since Oxfam came up a few times in the readings for this week, I thought I’d share this report just released by the charity on global wealth inequality:
In light of our readings on what forms reciprocity takes in the realm of charitable donations, it’s interesting to see reports like this. Obviously, they’re aimed at people like us: potential donors, not potential recipients of aid. Is it a gift to us though? Is sharing knowledge a repayment in a way for the donations that sustain the activities of the charity and allow it to both do on-the-ground work and compile and analyse data? Or is it merely a campaign for more donations? Can it be both?
