Worn Worlds
In class this week we discussed how clothing that was once worn by deceased relatives or friends may affect us. I have uploaded a chapter by Peter Stalybrass in which he talks about how wearing the jacket of his deceased father impacted him while giving a talk. It is called ‘Worn Worlds: Clothes, Morning and the Life of Tings’ Stallybrass.pdf . It is interesting to read this piece together with his classic article about Marx’ Coat which you can also find in the reading list for week 3. In week 8 we will explore the second life of things in more detail.
